Walnut Hill is a community of families, educators, neighbors, and friends committed to inspiring confidence and developing character, cooperation, and leadership in all our children while building life-long friendships among them. In the spirit of our community, the Walnut Hill PTA and Dad’s Club organized a Winter Wonderland Market and invited nearby elementary schools, local businesses and families to share a moment of holiday joy this season.

The Winter Wonderland Holiday Market took place on Saturday, December 16th from 10 AM to 4 PM. It was an opportunity for area businesses and organizations to connect with the families who live and go to school in our neighborhoods. Ancillary attractions included a World Record attempt to create the world’s largest human candy cane for which we had 223 people participate. Students of participating schools wore their school color. “Neutral” participants in the “Candy Cane Challenge” wore white.

The Holiday Market included vendors from a variety of industries, neighboring school’s PTA’s, and restaurants. The Winter Wonderland’s children’s corner offered lots of fun activities for the children including storytime, gingerbread house decorating, pictures with Santa, face painting, an outdoor obstacle course, and a double-feature movie. The Walnut Hill Minions hosted a Food Drive for the North Texas Food Bank and accepted food contributions and donations in return for free cookies.
